Cameroon has immense agropastoral potential due to the diversity of its ecosystems, its arable land, and its climate conducive to a wide variety of crops and livestock. Currently, the agricultural sector contributes around 20% of GDP and employs more than 60% of the working population, but it is still mainly dominated by traditional subsistence agriculture. However, the Cameroonian government has taken concrete measures to modernize this sector and move to so-called 3rd generation agriculture, aiming for a green revolution. Here is an overview of the agropastoral potential and the actions undertaken by the government to support this transformation.
