About sixty kilometers east of Ngaoundere, in the Adamaoua region, are the spectacular Tello waterfalls, one of the most fascinating natural wonders in this part of Cameroon. On the Bélel track towards Mbalang, a sign indicates access to this developed site, equipped with a car park and traditional boukarous.
The 45-metre-high Tello Waterfalls are an impressive spectacle: the water rushes down noisily, rushing into the void, creating a majestic cascade. Behind this waterfall lies a large natural cavern, dug under an imposing 15-metre-thick rock table. This unique geological phenomenon allows visitors to make their way through and admire the waterfall from the inside, offering an incomparable immersive experience.
The layout of the site makes it accessible to all, with stairs and railings allowing visitors to explore the area safely. From a solid boukarou, visitors can contemplate the raw beauty and power of the falls in all their splendor. This place is particularly popular for family picnics, with an enchanting natural setting and facilities that invite relaxation.
Although the Tello waterfalls are different from those of Ekom-Nkam or Lobe, they are nonetheless emblematic. Their originality lies in the rock table that suddenly interrupts the Tello River, throwing it into the void. This sudden interruption creates an impressive spectacle, reinforced by the cavern that offers an unusual viewpoint.
Access to the falls is relatively easy in the dry season, a simple vehicle can be enough to cover the 45 kilometers of track from Ngaoundere in about 1 hour 30. On the other hand, in the rainy season, a 4×4 vehicle is strongly recommended to cover the last two kilometers and cross a mandatory ford before reaching the site. Once there, visitors are welcomed in a developed area, ideal for relaxing after the crossing.
In summary, Tello Waterfalls is a must-see stopover for anyone wishing to discover the natural beauties of Cameroon, offering a perfect combination of adventure and wonder.
